What can I expect when I get to Riveted?
Well, we are a family! I know a lot of churches say that, but maybe don’t quite live up to it, but Riveted Church is a family! We are welcoming and laid back. We do life together and have since our beginnings. We truly value being involved in each others’ lives. We are a casual gathering. Really, come as you are. We love new people coming into the family!  We have a full band (most days), with a great mix of upbeat music and hymns. Pastor Jim preaches the Bible, and finds relevant, fun and practical ways to explain the God's Word, and challenge us to walk in faith.

What is the “worship” like at Riveted?
We have a full band – a couple of acoustic guitars, electric guitar, piano, synth, and drums. Our worship band is made up of several vocalists that make up quite a team. We play modern worship songs, old hymns, and some in between. The songs that are chosen are biblically sound and gives us an accurate view of who God is, and who we are in response to Him. We have fast, fun, upbeat songs, and we have slower, more meditative and worshipful songs. While we have a good mixture of songs that we sing, we always build our weekly selection so that it leads up to, builds on and reminds us of Pastor Jim’s sermon, that week. New songs are added regularly and sometimes, we even sing some original songs.

What does “Riveted” mean?
Open your Bible to Hebrews 12:1 and you’ll see that it says, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,”… THEN verse 2 says, “looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” In verse 2, “looking to Jesus,” we have taken that and we say “riveted on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.” As Christians, as the Bride of Christ, we are RIVETED on Him, our Savior… we are looking to Him for salvation, to build us, to grow and establish us. He, alone, is worthy of our attention, and lives. He is our everything! A secondary thought on being “riveted” is the idea of “being attached to Him.” When we have kept Him in His rightful place, all other things will fall exactly where they need to fall. He is our priority! He is our goal! He is our everything!

Is communion only for members?
At Riveted Church we believe communion is for every Christ follower, regardless of church background, membership, etc. If you have given/committed your life to following Christ Jesus, you may take communion. There is a time of reflection, in order to align ourselves with Christ, because the Bible is clear that “Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord.” – 1 Corinthians 11:27. In fact, read 1 Corinthians 11:17-34, you’ll find the kinds of things that make us “unworthy.” If there is any sin in our lives, we need to take care of those things, confess those sins, and be forgiven before we take the Lord’s Supper. Communion is a time of solemn reflection, but also a time of thanksgiving and celebration. Our Christ died in our place, taking our sins upon Himself, AND He conquered our death so that we will one day take the Cup, together, with Him.
